Discover the Highlands of Papua New Guinea. For those who have been already to beautiful beach resorts and wish to experience something different, discovering the Highlands of Papua New Guinea would be the choice.

The Highlands is a vast area and is the interior of Papua New Guinea. The highlands people and their customs and traditions are different to the coastal people. The towering mountains, valleys, gorges, the mass rainforest, the rivers and the cool pleasant climate makes travel in the highlands a pleasant experience.

The landscapes and views from highest peaks are panoramic.

The highlands hold the most unique cultures of Papua New Guinea. Cultural performances are colorful and most traditional. This is where the country's majority of the population lives. Traditional activities are daily event in the highlands and ceremonies such as bride- price payment, compensation ceremonies and others can be witnessed as you travel along.

The highlands people live on subsistence farming. You will witness women manning their gardens as a daily activity. Large plots of land cultivated for growing vegetables for consumption. Fresh fruits and vegetable grown in the highlands are in markets and supermarkets in most major centers.

The country's tea and coffee are grown and produced in the highlands. Factories and plantations are scheduled for visit while on the tour.

Experiencing the interior of Papua New Guinea (the Highlands) can be a real experience. And when you leave the shores of PNG, you will testify and say, “Yes, I did visit the inner core of Papua New Guinea”.

Tour Itinerary in Brief:

Day 1 (---) Arrive Port Moresby, connect to flight PX160 Port Moresby to Goroka, on arrival, meet and transfer to hotel – Overnight Bird of Paradise Hotel. (2 nights)

Day 2 (BL-) Full day tour to Goroka & surrounds including visit to the famous Asaro Mudmen village.

Day 3 (BL-) Full day road tour Goroka to Mt. Hagen – Overnight Hotel Kimininga (2 nights).

Day 4 (BL-) Full day tour of Mt. Hagen & surrounds including visit to tea and coffee plantations.

Day 5 (BL-) Road tour Mt. Hagen to Mendi, stops along the way to view waterfalls, valley views, visit to different villages along the road – Kiburu Lodge (2nights).

Day 6 (BL-) Full day tour in Mendi with visits to different villages and sights of interest.

Day 7 (B--) Transfer to flight PX866 Mendi to Port Moresby, meet and assist to International departure flight.

Land Cost in US$ Dollars: US$1279.00 per person twin share.

Single Supplement: US$506.00 per single occupancy.

Land cost includes: accommodation twin share, meals as indicated as B=Breakfast, L=Lunch, D=Dinner, tours, Local English speaking guides, entry fees to all sights of visit, cultural performance fees and government taxes.

Land cost does not include: any other meals than those specified, visa fees, international departure tax, laundry, phone/fax bills, beverage and any other services of personal nature.

Note, we have not included all meals, as it would be cheaper if meals are paid direct on consumption.

You are to book and ticket the following Air Niugini (PX) flights from your end in order to take advantage of discount available if ticket overseas.

Day 1 PX162 Port Moresby to Goroka.
Day 7 PX861 Mendi to Port Moresby.

The programs can be modified to suit your groups/clients international arrival and departure dates and flights.

The above land cost is commissionable by 20% to Wholesalers and 10% to Retail Travel Agencies.

All transportation will be using 25 seat Toyota Coaster buses for groups exceeding 10 pax. These 25 seat buses will be new, however, will not have PA system. Air condition will not be on most buses, however, air condition is not necessary in the highlands.
