Mt HAGEN CULTURAL SHOW

The World Famous Mt. Hagen Cultural is the event that has attracted the attention of so many around the world. It's famous, it's colorful and it's exciting. Overwhelming comments from visitors on this event has contributed towards making the show bigger and better each year. Comments such as " This is a most beautiful event" "I have never experienced such a show in my entire travel", " This is my life time experience" to quote a few.

The Mt. Hagen Cultural Show since it's inception in 1961 has been an outstanding cultural event. It does not only provide the colors and beauty of the cultural scene but it also acts as a link to the many different tribes and cultural groups in the country so they all gather together and share the many different cultures and traditions. It has also brought the neighboring tribes and provinces to come to understand one another better and create peace and harmony amongst these tribes and cultural groups. It's famous, it's fascinating and unique, and you will get the real feel of the primitive cultures of Papua New Guinea. Country Tours is pleased to accommodate you to participate in the World famous event. We have put together three (3) tour packages to include this event of which details of the itinerary is outlined below.

 

PROGRAM # 1

DISCOVER HULI WIGMAN-TARI & THE HIGHLANDS

This 11-day/10-night program is an unescorted tour with the highlight being the Mt Hagen Show. As the name suggests clients will discover and experience first the Huli Wigman land-Tari and end in the highlands experience with the highlight being the famous Mt Hagen show, where sing sing groups from all over the country come together in a bonanza of culture.

Day 1 (D--): Arrive Port Moresby, meet/greet and transfer to hotel. Balance day at leisure. Overnight – Holiday Inn. (2 nights)

Day 2 (BLD): Full day tour of Port Moresby City Tour including a visit to the National Museum (Cameras are not allowed inside the Museum), National Parliament, Paga Hill Look out and Pacific Adventist University .

Day 3 (BLD): Transfer to Flight PX864 Port Moresby to Tari in the Southern Highlands Province. Meet and transfer to Ambua Country Lodge. Over night in the comfort of the newly and locally owned lodge. (3 nights)

Day 4 (BLD): Full day tour of Tari including the Huli wigman, wig grown, singsing, spirit dance and bachelor boys

Day 5 (BLD): Full day cultural and village study tours including a display of village mumu, garden and fencing, girls’ initiation ceremony and singsing.

Day 6 (BLD): Road tour from Tari to Kumul Bird View Lodge. Arrive Kumul Lodge and overnight. (2 nights)

Day 7 (BLD): Full day cultural tour of Tambul District. See the following cultural activities, singsing, “Tanim Het” Traditional way of courtship, traditional fire making, tribal war display, traditional “moka” display a way of barter system, drama of funeral and investigation of death and the popular “Waipa” jump and dance, garden and pandanus climbing and cutting and many more.

Day 8 (BLD): Sight seeing tour to Wabag and return and drive straight to Mt Hagen. Arrive Hotel Kimininga and check in. After check in proceed to Mt Hagen market tour. Mt Hagen market is one of the best in the Southern Hemisphere. Overnight Hotel Kimininga. (3 nights)

Day 9 (BLD): Full day at the World Famous Mt Hagen Cultural Show with return transfer, to and fro Mt Hagen Cultural Show with picnic lunch.

Day 10 (BLD): Full day at the World Famous Mt Hagen Cultural Show with return transfer, to and fro Mt Hagen Cultural Show with picnic lunch.

Day 11 (B): Transfer hotel to airport for flight PX181 Mt Hagen to Port Moresby, arrive Port Moresby, meet/assist to connecting outgoing international departure flight on PX 392 Port Moresby to Singapore.

Land cost Excludes: Any other meals than those specified, international and domestic Air Niugini (PX) flights, international departure tax, visa fees, beverage, laundry, phone/fax bills, and other services of personal nature.

Regarding Air Arrangements: We suggest you book and ticket the domestic Air Niugini (PX) flights together with your international flights and take advantage of discounts available when ticketed overseas. Following are the flights you need to book and ticket your end.

PROGRAM # 2

ODDYSEY IN THE LAST FRONTIER

Odyssey in the last Frontier is a 12-day/11-night program including the Mt Hagen Cultural Show. Beginning with a visit to the award winning diving resort in North Coast New Britain Island and combining with the Mt Hagen Sing sing showcase to the travelers’ two amazingly different parts of Papua New Guinea. The maximum number on this tour is 5-8 people - allowing for intimate experiences.

Day 1 (--D): Arrive Port Moresby, meet/greet and transfer to hotel, balance of day at leisure. Overnight- Holiday Inn.

Day 2 (BLD): Transfer hotel to flight PX202 Port Moresby to Hoskins , arrive Hoskins and transfer to hotel. Overnight: Walindi Beach Resort (2 nights)

Day 3 (BLD): Full day tour visiting different sights of interest including oil palm plantations.

Day 4 (BLD): Early morning transfer resort to flight PX203 Hoskins to Rabaul, transfer flight to hotel. Commence straight for a half-day city tour of Rabaul and surrounds. Overnight: Rabaul Hotel (2 nights)

Day 5 (BLD): Full day tour of Rabaul and Gazelle Peninsula.

Day 6 (BLD): Transfer to flight PX205 Rabaul to Port Moresby, meet and proceed straight for a brief sight seeing tour of Port Moresby city and surrounds with a sit-down lunch. Terminate tour and transfer to flight PX182 Port Moresby to Mount Hagen , transfer to hotel. Overnight: Hotel Kimininga (3 nights).

Day 7 (BLD): Return transfer, to and fro Mt Hagen Cultural Show with picnic lunch.

Day 8 (BLD): Return transfer, to and fro Mt Hagen Cultural Show with picnic lunch.

Day 9 (BLD): Transfer from hotel to airport for charter flight TNAIR Hagen to Karawari, arrive Karawari airstrip and transfer to the lodge, afternoon activities. Overnight: Karawari Lodge (2 nights).

Day 10 (BLD): Full day touring activities around Karawari area and the river villages.

Day 11 (BLD-): Transfer to charter flight TNAIR Karawari to Mt. Hagen, meet and assist to connecting flight PX183 Mt Hagen to Port Moresby with sit-down lunch in Hagen. Upon arrival, meet and transfer to hotel. Overnight: Holiday Inn

Day 12 (---): Transfer from your hotel to international departure flight.

We decided not to include meals through out, as it would be cheaper if meals were purchased on consumption basis. At Karawari Lodge and Walindi Beach Resort, meals are included in the accommodation tariff.

PROGRAM # 3

EXTRAVAGANGA

This program is an 11-day/10-night program, which include touring at the province tip of Papua New Guinea as well as attendance at the Mt Hagen Cultural Festival in the interior of Papua New Guinea. This experience blends the experience in extravagant of tradition and culture.

Day 1 (--D): Arrive Port Moresby ex-international flight, meet, greet and transfer to connecting flight PX158 Port Moresby to Gurney . Upon arrival in Gurney transfer to hotel. Overnight: Alotau International Hotel (3 nights)

Day 2 (BLD): Full day tour of Alotau and surrounds. Day 3 (BLD): Full day tour – Samarai islands and surrounds

Day 4 (BLD): Transfer hotel to airport, fly PX955 Gurney to Port Moresby , upon arrival in Port Moresby you will proceed straight for a half day sight seeing tour of Port Moresby and surrounds with sit-down lunch. Terminate tour and transfer to afternoon flight PX112 Port Moresby to Madang , transfer to hotel. Overnight: Madang Resort Hotel (4 nights).

Day 5 (BLD): Half-day tour of South Coast – Madang area Day 6 (BLD): Half-day tour of North Coast Madang area – Madang area.

Day 7 (BLD): Full day at leisure.

Day 8 (BLD): Road tour from Madang to Mt Hagen, passing through exotic landscapes of Eastern Highlands province, simbu, alpine and savanna grasslands, road villages, the ramu valley, driving through the Ramu cattle farm, ramu sugar and ramu palm oil plantations, Stops are made at certain locations including lunch at Kassam pass over looking the Ramu and Markham valleys. Kainantu town, Yonki Dam, Daulo pass is some of the highlights of this road tour. Arrive Mt Hagen town and transfer to hotel. Overnight: Hotel Kimininga (3 nights).

Day 9 (BLD): Return transfer, to and fro Mt Hagen Cultural Show with picnic lunch.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Deposits: A non-refundable deposit is required to book any of our show programs. Only deposits, we are able to secure a space our show programs. The required deposit is US$350 per person. The received deposits will be deducted from your final payment.

Final Payments: Final payment is to be made on or before 01st of July. Over this busy, most other tour operators require final payment at 60 days or before, however, we from past experiences have set this deadline to give ample time to our clients to forward their payment.

All deposits and final payments are to be forwarded by Telegraphic Transfer (T/T). Please fax a copy of your T/T receipts when forwarding the payments. This will ease us in identifying your payments or you could send us an email advising us when the payment was made so we can monitor the clearance of your payment with our bank. We will have so many similar deposits made over this period and your advice would help us identify your payment.

Cancellations: Cancellations must be reviewed in writing at our office so appropriate refunds can be calculated and refunded where applicable. Our cancellation policies are as follows:

  1. 1. Although the deposit are non refundable, if cancellations are received at 90 days or before, we will consider refunding the deposit. This will be determined by the nature of the cancellation.
  2. Cancellations received after 90 days will forfeit the US$350 per person deposit.
  3. Cancellations received at 60 days and before 30 days will attract a forfeiture of 25% of the tour payment if already made.
  4. Cancellations received after 30 days and before 21 days will attract a 50% forfeiture of the tour payment. Cancellations received less than 21 days will forfeiture the tour payment.

Please note, we are more than happy to discuss the cancellation penalties determining the nature of the cancellations. Refunds will be made accordingly. The sooner you advise us of your cancellation, the sooner you will be refunded your funds; thus, all cancellations must be received in writing at your earliest possible.
